⦁⦁ HAVE FUN WITH IT —
A lot of the information below is kept vague as far as appearance and powers because I want you to have fun with it, and there will be more down the line as the game develops. This is just initial! Seriously, go sicko mode with it. If you think your Ithotu-chosen character can create mirages because of heat abilities, that's fine with me. If you want a hybrid of bug traits for your Cthac-Atorasu chosen, hell yeah. If you're unsure, leave a comment and we can workshop; comments are screened.
As for a time frame and the rate of transformation: after the sacrifice is made and they're in Shiokawa proper, they'll feel bereft, a sense of loss. Over the course of the next week the initial phases will appear however you want to play it.
General/all-God aspects of transformation to keep in mind: Characters will generally be kind of avoided by most NPC residents, at least at first. Their mindsets and personalities may or may not change, but the powers/physical aspects will happen.
⦁⦁ SACRIFICE —
Again, you can be creative, but the Gods will want something like a body part, one of your senses like hearing/sight, a memory, a vast quantity of blood, your voice, etc.
They can also have a curse put on them by their God. The way this manifests is either, to put it in game terms, a random hit to stamina or reason. So for stamina, a character will be fine and then might suddenly have a broken wrist. With reason, they might suddenly become very fearful and paranoid, etc.
The curses will let up a bit over time, though. Wonder why that is.

⦁⦁ ITHOTU — the devouring flame
"The supposed cause of the destruction of the library of Alexandria, a perfect black marble statue has been recently discovered and is currently waiting in the museum of OOO for its premiere."
Characters who choose Ithotu will get a burst of strength and incredible endurance in dire situations. They'll get a resistance to fire, but this sort of 'berserk mode' burns out quickly. Their extremities might turn black and marble-like in texture, maybe even ending in claws. They could feel warmer or cooler to the touch, depending. They could take on a typical demon-like or canine appearance.
⦁⦁ CTHAC-ATORASU — the spider god.
"The terrible spider god, CTHAC-ATORASU is once again awakening from its slumber... Blinded by its impossible to satisfy hunger, it has started to tear down the walls of its cocoon prison. Stop it before it devours us all."
Characters who choose Cthac-Atorasu will gain insect or spider traits physically. Slowly over time. They'll be hungry a lot of the time like their God, like nothing can really fill them up. However they'll have paralytic abilities, whether that's through web spinning or poison/venom or freezing through eye contact. This will be hard to control at first.
⦁⦁ GOIZO — the thing forsaken by god.
"Banished to the other dimension a long time ago, GOIZO has found a way to use mirrors to ensnare and teleport its prey straight through the glass. Glimpses of horror lurking behind your reflection are just the beginning..."
Characters who choose Goizo will get the ability to travel through dreams and memory. They might seem generally more patient and off-puttingly tenacious. Perhaps sometimes catatonic. Physically, it'll be a lot of different/unusual body part additions, like multiple eyes or mouths, etc. Goizo-chosen might seem 'ugly' or grotesque or strikingly beautiful with little in between to others from time to time, no matter how they actually appear.
⦁⦁ ATH-YOLASZTH — the towering eye.
"The Mad God favors astronomers and magicians, granting them its gift of power that unknowingly brings ATH-YOLAZSTH's bloated body closer and closer to Earth."
Characters who choose Ath-Yolazsth will feel compelled to learn everything they can on occasion; they might obsess over mysteries or strange things they might not have been interested in before. They'll have an affinity for magic, but they're prone to emotional meltdowns and fits of what seems to be psychosis. Their appearance might look slightly different from other character to other character, but will be sort of alien-like.
⦁⦁ YGOTHAEG — the irresistible gaze.
"nuclear tests in the Pacific region have awakened something evil in the depths of the Mariana Trench. YGOTHAEG is now slowly emerging, ready to once again rule the coastlines."
Characters who choose Ygothaeg will take on an aquatic appearance; scales and gills and webbed fingers, sharp shark teeth, etc. They might sometimes have a harder time breathing on land, depending. Explosive tempers and hypnotic stare powers. Tendency to be manipulative. Will heal much faster than normal humans.
⦁⦁ HERALD OF THE SHATTERED COURT —
"The Court has begun to organize its next magnificent Ball. Everyone from SHIOKAWA is invited. And everyone will attend, willing or not."
Characters who choose the Herald of The Shattered Court will find themselves to be a lot more magnetic and enchanting to others. Their beauty is enhanced ... but that's according to the Herald. They might look a little off sometimes too. Powers/abilities include voice mimicry, illusions, and pain/memory/dream sharing.
